On September 20, the School of Electrical Engineering successfully held the 2025 Alumni Anniversary Homecoming Event. More than 200 alumni from the 1985, 1995, 2005, and 2015 cohorts returned to their alma mater to recall their youthful years and renew friendships.
First Encounter: A Warm Welcome for Alumni
In the early morning of the day, school leaders and student volunteers arrived in advance to guide alumni through registration, group photos, and souvenir collection. The scene was filled with greetings and laughter. Afterwards, the alumni went to the South Hall of the Comprehensive Gymnasium to attend the university-wide anniversary homecoming conference, witnessing the new development of their alma mater together.

Reunion: Tea Party to Recall Original Aspirations
After the university conference, the school’s alumni tea party was held at the Rain Garden west of the Electrical Engineering Building. Wang Deyu, Secretary of the Party Committee, delivered a welcome speech, greeting the alumni "back home", thanking them for their support to the school’s development, and emphasizing that the school is the eternal spiritual home of all alumni. Wu Mingli, Dean of the school, introduced the latest developments of the school in terms of faculty team, talent training, and scientific research cooperation, and looked forward to alumni continuing to offer suggestions for the school. Teacher Lin Fang, Executive Vice Chairman of the University Trade Union, spoke as a counselor representative, and Teacher Zeng Guohong as a class teacher representative, recalling the warm times with the students and sending their deepest blessings. Teacher Nie Xiaobo, an alumni representative of the 2005 cohort who stayed to work at the school, called on all alumni to often return to their alma mater.

Zha Guangjun, an alumni of the 1985 cohort, excitedly recalled the unforgettable school days. Yu Honggang, an alumni of the 1995 cohort, sang "The Same Song" affectionately, immersing everyone in "this joyous moment of gathering". Zuo Feng, an alumni of the 2005 cohort, led the singing of "Tomorrow Will Be Better", sending best wishes to the school and all alumni, and pushing the on-site atmosphere to a climax.
Childlike Fun: Exclusive Experience for "Second-Generation Jiaoda" Alumni Kids
This year, the school prepared special activities for the "second-generation Jiaoda" (children of alumni) who returned with their parents. The children observed and operated wheeled robots up close, made creative crafts such as light-up greeting cards by hand, and virtually operated key equipment in the high-speed rail traction substation in the school’s laboratory, gaining full of joy.

Profound Friendship: Teachers and Students Reunite After 40 Years
On the same day, 12 alumni of the 1985 cohort majoring in Locomotive Electric Transmission returned from all over the world to attend the event. During the discussion, they all recalled the teachers who had a profound impact on their careers, especially Professor Hao Rongtai—the guide who led them into the field of power traction. The 93-year-old Professor Hao happily came to the Electrical Engineering Building to meet the alumni after hearing that his students were back, and their hands were tightly held together. After 40 years, Professor Hao still remembered the students’ names and their hard work at school. The alumni also excitedly recalled Professor Hao’s elegant demeanor when teaching in full English, and unanimously said that their ability to participate in the prosperous cause of the motherland is inseparable from the cultivation and guidance of the teachers of their alma mater. Everyone jointly wished the teacher good health and made an appointment to meet again in the next ten years.

Alumni are a valuable asset to the school. The School of Electrical Engineering has always attached great importance to alumni work, serving alumni with sincerity and dedication, and striving to become their spiritual home and harbor. The school attached great importance to and carefully prepared for the 2025 Alumni Anniversary Homecoming Series Activities, which were highly praised by all alumni.
