The 8th Forum on Cutting-Edge Technologies for Electrified Transportation was successfully held in Beijing from May 30 to June 1, 2024. Sponsored by the Transportation Electrification Professional Committee of the China Power Supply Society and the IEEE Transportation Electrification Council (TEC), the forum was co-hosted by Beijing Zhongheng Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Jiaotong University, and other institutions. Through invited plenary reports and sub-forum thematic discussions, the forum showcased the latest technological achievements and research progress in the field of electrified transportation, and explored scientific issues and key technologies in this field. More than 300 guests attended, including renowned scholars, enterprise experts, and university teachers and students from over 100 domestic and foreign institutions in the electrified transportation sector.

At the opening ceremony on the morning of May 31, welcome speeches were delivered by Ding Rongjun, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Liu Jinjun, Chairman of the China Power Supply Society; Don Tan, Chairman of the IEEE Transportation Electrification Council; Zhang Xuesong, Deputy General Manager of China Academy of Railway Sciences Group Co., Ltd.; and Zhao Peng, Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University. Yang Weijun, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of Zhongheng Electromechanical, hosted the opening ceremony.

The report topics were "Innovation-Driven Development and Prospect of Fuxing Series EMUs", "Challenges in Ultra-fast Charging", "Modular Multilevel Converters Based on Three-Phase Magnetic Coupling Modules and Their Application Prospects in Railway Traction", "Research and Prospect of High-Density Electrification Technology for Transportation Equipment", "Opportunities and Challenges of Electromechanical Brake Technology in Rail Transit", "Discussion on the Application and Development of New Energy in Rail Transit", "Current Status and Challenges of New Energy Electric Aviation Technology", and "BYD's New Energy Development Strategy and Power Battery Technology Trend Under the 'Dual Carbon' Goal". During the conference, participants engaged in enthusiastic discussions, and the venue was fully occupied. The invited plenary reports were hosted by Yang Weijun, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of Zhongheng Electromechanical; Wang Chenchen, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University; Liu Weizhi, Deputy Chief Engineer of Beijing Zhongheng Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd.; and Guo Xiaoqiang, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Yanshan University.






On the morning of June 1, 56 scholars shared their latest research achievements in nine fields, including rail transit electrification, integration technology of electrified transportation and new energy, new motors, drives and controls, electric vehicle drives and charging, ship electrification technology, next-generation power electronic devices and applications, multi-source power traction technology, maglev and superconducting technology in transportation, and key technologies of more-electric aircraft. They also conducted enthusiastic interactions and exchanges with on-site participants.






Sub-Forum Reports
On the afternoon of May 30, some participants visited the Circular Railway Test Line of China Academy of Railway Sciences (National Railway Test Center) and the National Engineering Research Center for High-Speed Railway and Urban Rail Transit System Technology for exchanges.


The successful holding of the 8th Forum on Cutting-Edge Technologies for Electrified Transportation effectively enhanced technical communication and exchanges among universities, research institutes, and enterprises in the field of electrified transportation, building a bridge for industry-academia-research cooperation. Experts and scholars exchanged ideas, sparked inspiration, and strengthened mutual understanding and friendship.
