Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the results of the 2021 NSFC Research Fund for foreign scholars, The "Research on cascading faults in large scale hybrid AC / DC grids" project hosted by Dr. Sohrab mirsaeidi, a foreign associate professor of School of Electrical Engineering - International Demonstration School of Renewable Energy was approved by the young scholars research fund of the Bureau of International Cooperation. This is the first time that foreign young scholars of our university have been approved to preside over the foreign scholars research fund project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, which has achieved a breakthrough in the type of the project, reflecting the achievements of Schoo of Renewable Energy in the construction of international talent team in recent years.
The approved project aims at the key problems and major needs of building a new power system under the background of "Carbon Peak" and "Carbon Neutralization". Aiming at China's unique large-scale AC / DC hybrid power grid, it focuses on the propagation mechanism and suppression methods of cascading faults in hybrid power grid, and strives to make a breakthrough in the research of relevant key scientific problems, so as to improve the new energy consumption capacity of power grid and contribute to the safe and stable operation of the system.
Dr. Sohrab Mirsaeidi, associate professor, is a young Iranian scholar. He joined the School of Electrical Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University - International Demonstration School of Renewable Energy in 2019. Dr. Mirsaeidi obtained his doctorate from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2016; From 2016 to 2019, he conducted postdoctoral research in Tsinghua University. In recent years, more than 30 SCI articles have been published, of which 13 articles have been published in IEEE Transactions on industrial electronics, IEEE Transactions on power electronics, IEEE Transactions on industrial informatics and other regional journals as the first author or corresponding author.
