On the afternoon of January 10, the School of Electrical Engineering's 2025 Spring Festival Gala cum 2024 Summary and Commendation Event themed "Light Up 2025, Gather Momentum for the Future" was grandly held in the Multi-Functional Hall on the first floor of the Mechanical Engineering Building. All members of the school leadership team and faculty gathered to welcome the Spring Festival and discuss development prospects.
Wu Mingli, Dean of the school, extended sincere Spring Festival greetings and New Year wishes on behalf of the school to all faculty and staff, retired comrades, and friends from all walks of life who support the school's development. He reviewed and summarized the school's achievements and breakthroughs in 2024 in Party building and ideological and political work, talent training, discipline development, teaching and scientific research, exchanges and cooperation, and other fields. He thanked all faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication, and hoped that in the new year, everyone would keep in mind the mission of fostering virtue through education, and contribute to the school's development with more enthusiasm, fighting spirit, and pragmatic work style.
Wang Deyu, Secretary of the Party Committee, announced the 2024 commendation list. In 2024, all faculty and staff of the school unswervingly focused on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, closely aligned with national strategic needs, united as one, and continuously promoted the high-quality development of discipline construction, talent training, technological innovation, and other work. Throughout the year, the school won 141 awards at national, provincial, municipal, society, and university levels in Party building and ideological and political work, talent training, teaching and scientific research, exchanges and cooperation, covering more than 210 faculty and staff. Each honor witnesses the hard work and pursuit of excellence of the electrical engineering team, demonstrating their spirit of forging ahead.
Wu Mingli presented certificates of honor to the recipients of the 2024 "Electrical Pillar" award, encouraging advanced individuals who made positive contributions and took on responsibilities in the school. In 2024, 10 new faculty members joined the electrical engineering family. At the gala, the new teachers introduced themselves one by one, expressing gratitude for joining the team and vision for the future. The school also prepared Year of the Snake mascots and surprises for faculty born in the Year of the Snake, with 11 teachers receiving blessings on stage.
The gala featured rich and exciting programs performed by various departments and centers, winning bursts of applause and cheers, filling the hall with joy. The Motor Department, Power Electronics Department, Electrical Control Department, New Energy Department, and Traction Department presented choral performances including "You Look So Happy When You Smile", "Tomorrow Will Be Better", "Happy Monkey", "A Loving Family", "My Future Is Not a Dream", and "Blossoms Along the Way". These songs expressed love for life, praise for the times, New Year wishes, and longing for a better future, showcasing the energetic and progressive spirit of each secondary unit. The clapper talk "Praising BJUT Electrical Engineering" by the Power Department, and the creative recitation "Electrical Engineering, What I See" by the Electrical Engineering Base and Experimental Center demonstrated the perseverance, diligence, professional passion, and strong sense of belonging and pride of the electrical engineering team. The song and dance medley "Super Star" and "A Loving Family" by the school administration was full of creativity, pushing the gala atmosphere to a climax. Meanwhile, the event was live-streamed with photos to record wonderful moments, allowing joy to be shared in real-time.
The gala also included exciting lucky draw sessions sponsored by enthusiastic alumni, which ignited the on-site atmosphere. Fun and profession-related game sessions such as "Charades" and "Stand to the End" brought continuous laughter and applause. Finally, the gala awarded program prizes including "Ruyi Year of the Snake", "Vigorous Snake Dance", "Brilliant Snake Year", "Perfect Snake Year", and "Flowing Calligraphy" to outstanding performances.
The 2025 Spring Festival Gala cum 2024 Summary and Commendation Event of the School of Electrical Engineering came to a successful conclusion with a warm and joyful group photo of all faculty and staff. Looking forward to 2025, the School of Electrical Engineering will continue to write a more brilliant chapter with a more pragmatic spirit, firmer steps, and more energetic state, contributing electrical engineering strength to the high-quality development of the university.
