Background of Establishment
Founded in November 2015, International Demonstration School of Renewable Energy (former Hanergy School of Renewable Energy) is the only demonstration school in the field of electrical engineering listed in the promotion plan of International Demonstration School of Universities and Colleges approved by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and the Ministry of Education. With the support of the School of Electrical Engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University and the National Energy Active Distribution Network Technology Research and Development Center, the school pays equal emphasis on English-only teaching environment, comprehensive quality education, innovation ability and engineering literacy, and integration of Chinese and Western cultures, so as to enhance students' international level. Based on the international characteristic and with reference to international standards, its educational goals and objectives are to establish an international first-class faculty, reform the students training system, and foster more comprehensive talents with international vision and familiar with international rules for the implementation of country's sustainable development and the energy development strategies to participate in international affairs and competitions. At the same time, the school has promoted the results of the pilot reform in appropriate circumstances, and demonstrate and radiate it to the whole school, so as to drive the overall international reform within the school.
Construction Results
Since the establishment of the school, the school has fully grasped at the latest development trend of disciplines and developed the talent training system based on electrical engineering, featuring new energy, and with innovative practical ability as its connotation by referring to international standards. In the undergraduate training program, 100% of the professional courses are taught in English, and more than 50% of the courses are taught by foreign professors. In addition, the school has totally introduced 15 high-level experts who work in full-time, part-time, long-term or short-term way, among whom there are professor Anjan Bose, academician of both the American Academy of Engineering and Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Jin Ho Kwak, academician of the Korean Academy of Hanlin, and has created a deeply integrated teaching team of Chinese and foreign teachers. All the Chinese and foreign teachers have professional title of associate professors or above, as well as overseas experiences.
The school began to recruit students in September 2016 and enroll 60 undergraduates every year. The average score of the admitted students in the National College Entrance Examination of our school ranks top in the universityc. In addition, the school has enrolled about five international students every year since 2017, most of whom come from countries under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Since 2016, the school has organized 5 international consulting conferences, 4 international seminars on the Future of New Energy, and undertaken 3 CIEEC international conferences. The electrical Sub-forum and New Energy Academic Conference of International Young Scholars' Zhixing Forum have greatly promoted the international level and popularity of our school, or even the university. The school has also signed international student exchange agreements with foreign universities such as Washington State University, the University of New South Wales and Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, established special scholarships, and sent students to participate in short-term exchange programs every year. In addition, the school has signed intern assignment agreements with many electric power enterprises such as State Grid Corporation and Hanergy Group, providing students with the most cutting-edge industry development information and practical education opportunities.

The project of "Exploration and Practice of International Talent Training in the New Energy and Power Industry" was awarded as "2018 Top Ten Outstanding Achievements of International Talent Training in the Power Industry" by China Electric Power Education Association.
